Using ClinicNearby

What is ClinicNearby?

ClinicNearby is a free online directory of clinics and medical practices in the United States. It lists 14,588 clinics in 421 cities across 48 states, with each clinic's address, phone number, specialties and public rating where available.

Is ClinicNearby free to use?

Yes. Searching and browsing ClinicNearby is completely free, and you don't need an account.

How do I find a clinic near me?

Type a specialty or clinic name and your city, state or ZIP code into the search box. You can also browse by state and city, or by specialty, to see every clinic we list in that area.

How are clinics sorted?

Lists are sorted by the number of public reviews a clinic has, then by rating. Clinics without a rating appear after rated ones. Clinics do not pay for position.

Can I book an appointment through ClinicNearby?

Not at the moment. ClinicNearby gives you the clinic's phone number and directions so you can contact the clinic directly to book.

Where do the ratings come from?

Ratings and review counts come from public review sources at the time the listing was compiled. They are a guide only and may not reflect recent changes at a clinic.

How often is the information updated?

Each clinic page shows the month its listing was last updated. Details such as phone numbers and opening hours can change at any time, so it's always worth calling ahead.

Does ClinicNearby give medical advice?

No. ClinicNearby is a directory, not a healthcare provider, and does not recommend or endorse any clinic. Ask a qualified professional for medical advice, and call 911 in an emergency.

Choosing a clinic

When should I go to urgent care instead of the emergency room?

Urgent care is generally for problems that need attention today but are not life-threatening, such as minor injuries, sprains, fevers or infections. For chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a stroke, severe bleeding or any situation that feels life-threatening, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

What is the difference between primary care and family medicine?

Primary care is the general term for your main, everyday doctor. Family medicine is one kind of primary care that treats patients of all ages, from children to older adults. Internal medicine is another kind that focuses on adults.

How do I know if a clinic accepts my insurance?

Call the clinic and ask whether they are in network for your specific plan, then confirm with your insurer. Insurance networks change often, so it's best to check before every new visit.

How can I tell if a clinic is taking new patients?

Call the clinic directly. Availability for new patients changes frequently and is not something a directory can show reliably.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Usually a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of medicines you take, and any recent test results or records. The clinic can tell you if they need anything else when you book.

What is a walk-in clinic?

A walk-in clinic sees patients without an appointment, often for minor illnesses and injuries. Many urgent care centers work this way. Call ahead or check the clinic's website to confirm walk-ins are accepted.

Can I see a specialist without a referral?

It depends on your insurance plan. Some plans, such as many HMOs, require a referral from your primary care doctor before you see a specialist. Check with your insurer before booking.
